Alona Beach
Alona is the main tourist spot in Bohol because of its white sand beach, proximity to great dive sites, and the high density of dive shops, resorts, restaurants and bars. It’s about 18km from Tagbilaran and a nice place to base yourself or at least start your Bohol experience...

Alona Grove (about 1min walk from the beach)
A real budget option, these small native cottages are at the far end of the beach. Rooms are very basic but you can upgrade to aircon if need be.
Double with fan/air conditioning from Php700/1100

Citadel Alona Inn (about 8mins walk from the beach)
This place is little further away from the beach but is reported to have nice clean rooms that are good value.
Double with fan/air conditioning from Php650/850

Villa Almedilla (about 2mins walk from the beach)
Brand new clean rooms, not far from the beach, tucked in behind some other resorts. Wifi available, option of adding aircon, hot/cold water, cable TV...
Double with fan/air conditioning from Php800/1500

Paragayo Resort
(about 5mins walk from the beach)
A short walk to the beach, this place is also reported to have nice clean rooms that are good value. It’s next door to a good restaurant (powder keg).
Standard aircon rooms from Php1100

Oasis Resort (right on the beach)
At the higher end of the market, Oasis is popular with European travellers. It has a nice bar/restaurant area and is located right in the centre of Alona beach.
Double with fan/aircon Php3150/3800 (incl. breakfast)

Dumaluan Beach

A much quieter beach, and perhaps more beautiful than Alona, Dumaluan beach is about 12km from Tagbilaran and 6km from Alona beach. There are far fewer restaurants and other services here so transport is more of an issue.

Bagobo Beach Resort

Located right on a very quiet stretch of the beach, this place is simple by very much enjoyed by those that stay there. Rooms have private bathroom and balcony. There is a nice lawn area outside the rooms, and a simple restaurant.
Double room with fan/air-con Php1475/1650

Dumaluan Beach Resort
(Panglao - about 12km from Tagbilaran and 6km from Alona beach)
The ‘big’ resort on Dumaluan. It is a little sterile and rooms are starting to look a little tired. Very popular with Filipino/local tourists and sits on the most popular stretch of the beach, so expect lots of bathers on weekends.
Double 'standard' rooms from Php1500

Tagbilaran
Most people prefer to stay at the beach rather than in Bohol’s main city, Tagbilaran, but if you want to be closer to the amenities of the city (shopping, ferries and airport, etc) then there are plenty of places to stay. Here are a few that we consider worth mentioning.

Dao Diamond
(about 4km from the heart of the city)
A little out further from the main centre but within walking distance to the bus terminal and Bohol's biggest mall. Dao Diamond is unique as it is one of the commercial enterprises run by the non profit organisation, International Deaf Education Association (IDEA). Many of the staff are deaf and the hotel is an innovative and interesting way of giving equality to deaf people of Bohol. There is a restaurant, pool and free shuttle to the ferry pier/airport.
Doubles from Php1200 (incl. breakfast)

Nisa Travellers Inn
(in the heart of the city)
Cheap cheap shelter. This is a budget place on the main street of Tagbilaran. Rooms have shared bathroom unless you upgrade.
Twin rooms with fan/aircon from Php450/550

Chriscentville Hotel (in the heart of the city)
As above but a little nicer. Rooms have private bathroom, aircon and hot water. Includes free transfer from the Ferry Pier or Airport.
Double rooms from Php950, Suites from Php1,350

Other places in Bohol

Bohol Bee Farm (Panglao Island, about 9km from Tagbilaran and 9km from Alona beach)
Besides offering great organic alternatives in their tranquil restaurant above the cliffs, this place has very nice accommodation. Much enjoyed by all that try it.
Double rooms start from Php2000, and family rooms from Php4000

Nuts Huts
(Loboc – 23km from Tagbilaran)
A personal favourite place for chilling out away from everything. Native huts set in the forest above the Loboc River, with pretty good meals, sauna, massage, hikes etc. Getting there can be difficult, but Barkada Tours can deliver you to Nuts Huts on request.
Dorm beds from Php300, double room with bathroom from 700php (but 600php for >1 night stay)

Simply Butterflies Conservation Centre (Bilar – 40km from Tagbilaran)
Also a very quiet and relaxing place. Accommodation here is in simple but new, clean and they have lovely chalets at the back of the butterfly sanctuary. The cafe does really good snacks and meals on request.
Chalets from Php500 for two people (50php per extra person)

Paradise Hills Resort (Sierra Bullones – 87km from Tagbilaran)
A mountain resort in the middle of nowhere! Western style hotel rooms, three spring-fed swimming pools, surrounded by forest. Very tricky to get to unless you take a few different modes of local transport, or get Barkada tours to take you there... But if you do finally make it here you might find you have the whole place to yourself!
Rooms (up to 4 people) from Php1,200
